In recognition that millions of Americans receive a substantial volume of health care services from complementary and alternative health care practitioners, California Law allows access by California residents to complementary and alternative health care practitioners who are not providing services that require medical training and credentials. The following disclosure is provided in compliance with section 2053.6 of the California Business and Professions Code.
COMPLEMENTARY OR ALTERATIVE SERVICES
Hypnotherapy services are covered by the laws of the State of California as defined in the California Business and Professions Code. Felice Austin’s hypnotherapy services are in compliance with those laws. The purpose of a program of hypnotherapy is vocational and avocational self-improvement (Section 2908 of the California Business and Professions Code); and as alternative or complementary treatment to healing arts services licensed by the state (Section 2053.6 of the California Business and Professions Code). Felice Austin is a Certified Hypnotherapist and Therapeutic Imagery Facilitator, not a state licensed physician or psychotherapist. The state of California does not license hypnotherapy or imagery services. Felice Austin’s hypnotherapy and imagery services do not include any diagnoses of physical or mental illness, nor constitute the practice of medicine or psychology, nor should they be considered as a substitute for licensed medical or psychological services or procedures. When a client is seeking support for problems of pychogenic or functional origin, such conditions are treated by psychological or medical referrals in writing only (Section 2908 of the California Business and Professions Code) that is, support for medical conditions are accepted only with referral in writing from the client’s medical doctor or psychotherapist.
NATURE OF SERVICES PROVIDED
Felice Austin will, to the best of her ability endeavor to accomplish the objectives of the workshop participant’s expectations. The methods and modalities are all about positive intent and successful results. While hypnosis and imagery may be an effective technique for many purposes, the effectiveness may vary from individual to individual and no specific results of progress can be promised or guaranteed. Please remember this workshop is not therapy.
Tree of Life Hypnosis group programs and materials are educational and are not intended as therapy or treatment. As such , Felice Austin may be explaining, describing, discussion and demonstrating different hypnosis and imagery techniques. During the workshop, participants may have experiential practice. At any time, you may choose to opt out of any exercise or group hypnosis or imagery during the program. Even so, in the course of the program, you will probably directly or indirectly experience hypnosis and imagery. Please be advised that hypnosis and imagery journeys can be powerful and can stimulate unexpected feelings or reactions. As a workshop participant, you may be effected, whether you are observing a demonstration or participating in a group hypnosis or imagery. You may end the hypnosis or imagery journey any time you want and for any reason by opening your eyes and counting yourself out from 1 to 5. Do not go along with anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Hypnosis or imagery may begin with an induction into the hypnotic state. Next, Felice gives suggestions or facilitates your imagination in using images. The process uses your personal imagery or archetypal imagery to create new subconscious pathways. During hypnosis and imagery experientials, participants remain completely aware of everything that is going on. In fact, many people experience a hyper-awareness where sensations are perceived enriched and vivid. The ability to visualize, sense, or imagine is enhanced. Deep relaxation is common. Many describe the hypnotic state as a complete and total escape from physical tension and emotional stress, while remaining completely alert.
The purpose of hypnosis and imagery is to create new patterns, new thoughts, new actions in support of your objectives. Hypnosis is not a truth serum as portrayed in fiction. The use of hypnosis and imagery could elicit memories of past events which may or may not be literally true. Under hypnosis, it is possible that events will be distorted or misconstrued. Under hypnosis, memories or images evoked are not necessarily accurate and may be a construction or a composite of memories. Memories recovered through hypnosis, imagery, or any other technique, need to be corroborated through other means before they are accepted as true. Without corroborating information, it is not possible to determine whether a specific memory is true or false, even if it seems true to the participant.

THEORY OF TREATMENT UPON WHICH SERVICES ARE BASED
The hypnotherapy and imagery services offered by Felice Austin are for self improvement, positive reinforcement for goal achievement, motivation, and moving forward in life, it is not psychology. Hypnosis and imagery evoke the power of the subconscious mind to change habits and behaviors. As a Kappasinian Hypnotherapist, Felice works with the methods and the mind model developed by John Kappas, PhD, that is dealing with client suggestibility and behavior. The focus is on the present and the future, not the past. In this theory, the subconscious mind is considered to be the source of many beliefs, behaviors, emotions, attitudes, and motivations. Hypnosis is believed to be a powerful tool for accessing the subconscious mind and creating improvements in our lives. Felice also uses imagery, based upon a program of Therapeutic Imagery created by Cheryl O’Neil for the American Hypnosis Association, which combines Freestyle and Archetypal Imagery with Kappasinian theory.
EDUCATION TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REGARDING SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED
Educated at the nation’s first accredited college of hypnotherapy, Hypnosis Motivation Institute, founded by renowned hypnotherapist Dr. John Kappas, in Los Angeles, California, Felice Graduated with Honors and was certified in 2010 by the Hypnotherapist Union, Local 472, as a Master Hypnotist, certification # AL011992. She completed one year of course instruction in hypnosis, including an internship of practical experience under the supervision of staff instructors with teaching credentials from the State Department of Education. She has completed a study of hypnotherapy which includes the highest number of hours possible. She pursues ongoing continuing education, focused on the use of hypnosis, imagery and other hypnotic techniques. Felice also holds additional classes, workshops and certifications for the American Hypnosis Association and Memoirs Ink, a personal history service she founded in 2002. Felice is a member of the American Hypnosis Association, Hypnotherapists Union, and other community organizations.
PRIVACY
A workshop is by nature a group experience. This means that there can be no privacy protection from disclosure. There is no guarantee of privacy regarding anything you share or which takes place during the workshop. If you are a private client with Felice Austin, she will not address any particulars about you in this forum, unless you choose to introduce information to the group.
